China’s molybdenum market extended its mild downward correction this week:

📊 Key figures
- Mo concentrate: Mo40-45% at 5,370-5,400 yuan/tonne-degree, Mo45-50% at 5,400-5,430 yuan/tonne-degree (tonne-degree = per 1% Mo content per tonne), down another 10 yuan/tonne-degree today; cumulative weekly drop ~50 yuan/tonne-degree
- Ferromolybdenum (FeMo): retail cash 338,000-342,000 yuan/ton, acceptance 340,000-344,000 yuan/ton, down 1,000-2,000 yuan/ton; cumulative weekly drop ~3,000 yuan/ton
- Steel mill tenders: new round pressed down to 338,600-340,000 yuan/ton — a narrower band vs. last week’s 337,000-341,000 yuan/ton
🔍 Our read
- With some mines still offline, raw material costs remain elevated — smelters are still running negative margins, which puts a firm floor under prices.
- Demand holds steady: this month’s steel mill FeMo tender volume reached ~13,500 tons (incl. long-term contracts).
- Near-term downside looks limited, but slight softening may continue next week — expect volatility in both directions.
